Service Through Design
We had the privilege of contributing to the Eden Housing Project through the Make It Home nonprofit organization. Collaborating with a talented group of San Francisco Bay Area designers—Eryka Glover, Lele Yu, Noor Majhi, and Breanna Robinson—we were entrusted with designing a studio and a one-bedroom apartment.
Eden Housing provided floor plans and access to sustainable furniture and decor, aligning with greener design standards. Since this project involved converting an office building into apartments, the spaces carried a subtle industrial aesthetic. The residents, many of whom have experienced chronic homelessness and mental health challenges, needed environments that felt warm, dignified, and safe.
Our goal was to create inviting yet minimal spaces, avoiding excessive accessorizing while using color and texture to add depth and character. The tall walls allowed for large-scale artwork, eliminating the need for paint or wallcoverings. Thoughtful curation ensured that artwork remained neutral, avoiding themes related to alcohol, culture, religion, or philosophy.
This project was a labor of love, and our team dedicated their time and talent to transforming these apartments into true homes for those in need.
